Our YIN Reformer Pilates instructor training is designed to help you slow down, tune in, and confidently guide deeply restorative movement experiences. Blending movement science with mindfulness, this course equips you with the skills to deliver calming, nervous system-focused sessions through breathwork, myofascial release, and supported stretching techniques. You’ll learn how to teach the YIN Reformer repertoire with intention, using thoughtful sequencing, gentle cueing, and props to create a safe and supportive environment for every client.

Developed by experienced Pilates professionals, this course goes beyond exercises—focusing on space holding, musicality, and working with trauma-aware and highly sensitive clients. Whether you’re looking to offer dedicated YIN classes or integrate this style into your existing schedule, you’ll graduate with the confidence to create deeply effective, restorative sessions that elevate your teaching and expand your offering.

COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Anatomy and Physiology Basics
  • Develop a deeper, applied understanding of anatomy specifically for slow, restorative movement and long-held positions.
  • Explore the role of the fascia system in YIN-style training, including hydration, elasticity, and tension release
  • Understand the nervous system response (parasympathetic vs sympathetic) and how movement, breath, and stillness influence regulation
  • Learn how joint structures (capsules, ligaments, tendons) respond to low-load, long-duration stretching

PRACTICAL TEACHING, PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND BUSINESS SKILLS

TEACHING THEORY
  • Develop your understanding of sequencing and class planning so you’re able to create effective, adaptable classes for both group and one-on-one clients.
Class Observation
  • Learn from the best in real-world settings. Attend at least 10 YIN Reformer Pilates classes, listening to their cues, spring configuration, layering techniques, transitions, etc.
  • Develop your own style by remembering the things you like so you can incorporate them into your own teaching practice.
Self Practice and Teaching Mastery
  • Complete at least 20 hours of self master practice, whereby you would practice the exercises yourself, learning the setup, movement, breathing and muscle focus of each exercise.
  • Practice teaching friends and family, and then when you’re ready, teaching in a Reformer setting on actual clients.
THEORETICAL ASSESSMENT
  • Demonstrate your understanding of the online theory by completing an online quiz.

YIN REFORMER PILATES SPECIALISATION CURRICULUM

Activation, Fundamental and Stretching Repertoires

Master the application of YIN principles specifically on the Reformer to deliver deeply restorative sessions.

  • Learn how to utilise the Reformer as a tool for support, not resistance
  • Explore long-hold positions (2–5 minutes) to target fascia and encourage release

What self study and observation do I need to complete?
Dive into 30 hours of online theory completed as your own pace anywhere you are. This includes your anatomy and physiology study, Pilates and teaching theory as well as work place health and safety and client engagement study.

10 Observation hours completed in studio or online.
