COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Anatomy and Physiology Basics
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of anatomical principles as they relate to Pilates, covering the muscular and skeletal systems, and the planes of movement.
  • Learn about the anatomy of the shoulder complex including the muscles and bones. Then how to apply this knowledge to teach exercises that promote scapular stability.
  • Learn about the muscles and bones of the torso, and how to teach exercise that focus on core engagement and spinal alignment safely and effectively.
  • Learn about the anatomy of the hip including teaching clients exercises that focus on proper alignment and joint safety.
  • Learn about the bones and muscles of the knee and ankle and how to teach Pilates leg exercises focused on safe alignment and mobility.
Introduction to Pilates

Master 10 essential Pilates Basic exercises to ensure correct activation and alignment to then progress.

Introduction to Ballet

TEACHING THEORY

Develop your understanding of sequencing and class planning so you’re able create effective, adaptable classes for both group and one-on-one clients.

Class Observation
  • Learn from the best in real world settings. Attend at least 10 Barre classes listening to their cues, spring configuration, layering techniques, transitions ect.

  • Develop your own style by remember they things you like so you can incorporate them into your own teaching practice.

Pregnancy Modifications

Develop a comprehensive understand of when and how to modify matwork exercises safely for prenatal and postnatal populations.

Self Mastery andTeaching Mastery

Complete at least 20 hours of self master practice whereby you would practice the exercises yourself learning the set up, movement, breathing and muscle focus of each exercise.

Practice teaching friends and family. and then when you’re ready teaching in a Matwork or Reformer setting on actual clients.

THEORETICAL ASSESSMENT

Demonstrate your understanding of the online theory by completing an online quiz.

Barre Specialisation Curriculum

Warm Up Repertoir

Learn the warm up repertoire so you can confidently ease client into classes, gently get their body moving before transitioning to more challenging flows and sequences.

Upper Body Repertoire

Develop your teaching skills of the Upper body repertoire, including using props to adapt the exercises in a more contemporary style class.

Intermediate Repertoire
  • Develop your teaching skills of the intermediate Pilates repertoire, including using props to adapt the exercises in a more contemporary style class.
Lower Limb Repertoire

Develop your teaching skills of the lower body repertoire, including Barre sequences and centre of floor flows using props to adapt the exercises in a more contemporary style class.

Core Repertoire and Magic Circle Repertoire

Learn the core repertoire so you can confidently build abdominal focused exercises throughout your classes. Learn various Magic Circle exercises that will allow you to incorporate the prop thoughout your classes to target different muscle groups.

Stretching Repertoire

Learn the stretching repertoire so you can confidently sprinkle stretching and mobility exercises though your class or deliver a focused stretching block at the end of your class that focuses on enhancing flexibility, and releasing tension.

Practical Assessment

Demonstrate your teaching skills by programming and instructing a Barre class showcasing all the skills and techniques learned throughout the course.

FAQs

Is there any pre-course engagement?

Jumpstart your Pilates training with a recommended 25 hours of Pilates Personal experience.

This will ensure you love Pilates and want to become an instructor and have some experience in classes.

What self study and observation do I need to complete?

Dive into 60 hours of online theory completed as your own pace anywhere you are. This includes your anatomy and physiology study, Pilates and teaching theory as well as work place health and safety and client engagement study.

10 Observation hours completed in studio or online.

Hands on practice and evaluation?

Put theory into action with:

30 hours Self-Mastery of repertoire (participation in classes, learning by self) in a Matwork Pilates setting.

30 hours of practical instructing/teaching in a Mat Pilates setting.

30 hours of practical instructing/teaching in a Reformer Pilates setting.

Your assessments include an online quiz and a practical assessment of you hands on teaching skills.

Is my Body Athletica qualification recognised internationally?

Absolutely! Our certification  has been approved by leading health and fitness bodies around the world to ensure you can teach anywhere. Additionally you may to claim professional development points when you complete this course if you are a member of any of our affiliate health or fitness bodies.
